About Brad

The surfaces of these paintings are embellished with genuine gold and silver. These precious metals are used as symbolic elements as well as visual instruments to interact with the viewer’s movements and environment.

"Kunkle proves that less is more with the unbelievable life that he invokes into the figures he paints by using just a few colors on his palette. His combination of gilded surfaces, beautiful yet compelling women, and mysteriously alluring settings make for one masterpiece after another."

Michael Shapcott

Plainville, CT artist

"I just like how I feel when I look at one of Brad's paintings. The muted skintones and landscapes contrast beautifully with the movement and pop in the gold leaf he so gracefully uses. His work takes me to a timeless, romantic place where the wind is always blowing and the figures are always swept up."

The women in his paintings are absolutely still but I always feel like the leaves are moving. He has such hushed energy in his paintings that seperates from other photorealists. He is definitely not boring.

reminds me of the days when i would go into a field and just lay down in a field i love them!

I think he is photo shopping the figures into the scene and painting on top of a photo. why else would he use shellac?

awesome!!!!

In order to get the full effect you have to go to his website. Simply stunning art, and I had fun with the "Alter Light" button. Beautiful.

wonderful technique. wow.

Dear Jim, Relax, breathe. Now let go.

I prefer the the artwork Love & Sleep dispayed on Brad's Web Site..

I love how she seems to be wandering into the brush in the first one. It makes you wonder about it.
