JKB Fletcher was born in the UK and now lives in Australia.
His paintings address questions of whether photorealism or hyperrealism is anything more than a photograph with oil based paint. Using and sensuality, surface, texture, contrast and form, his aim is to provoke thoughts and sensations of physicality and beauty.
Since moving to Australia, Fletcher has turned his focus to the female figure, creating paintings that appear to piece together the different parts of the female nude. Likewise, his process begins with taking hundreds of photographs of his model in various poses.
Fletcher carefully chooses the appropriate images and spends up to a hundred hours layering oil on canvas.
His work was nominated for the 2011 Metro Gallery Art Award and is represented in collections both in Australia and abroad.
