JeanPaul Mallozzi was born and raised in Queens NYC, and received a scholarship to attend the Rhode Island School Of Design (RISD) where he graduated with B.F.A in Illustration. His works have been exhibited in galleries both nationally and internationally including Los Angeles, New York, and London.
JeanPaul explains the work by saying, “Moods and emotions have a color and vibration that manifests itself in the body. People can read emotion on a face and even more so in someone’s body language. I chose to combine the two ideas of energy and posture, mimicking features with color and contours. It acts as a keyhole into how a person is feeling from within.”
"Jean Paul Mallozzi invites the viewer into his compositions with impeccable photo-realism, from which the work leaps into surreality. We can easily identify with the detailed subjects portrayed as they walk, swing, dance and embrace, however if these were photographs we would only see a fleeting expression upon each face. Mallozzi instead replaces each face with color, movement and expressionism. Where our faces can both reveal or purposely disguise our emotions, the faces of Mallozzi's subjects express our complex emotions through color and line, movement and connection."
