Alfred Conteh is a painter from Atlanta, GA. He earned a BA in Fine Art from Hampton University and a Master in Fine Art from Georgia Southern University.
Alfred explains his work by saying, “This body of work is a visual exploration of how african diasporal societies in the south are fighting social, economic, educational and psychological wars from within and without to survive. The honest and false narratives of history embodied in this series are primarily personified in patinated colossuses that commemorate the people, culture, and battles that the populations they tower over have fought and continue to fight. We are at war on two fronts.”
Alfred's work can be found in the collections of the Smithsonian Library of Congress, Delaware Art Museum, United Talent Agency Corporate Collection, Minnesota Museum of American Art Permanent Collection and the Bajeel Art Foundation.
His work has been presented at the Frieze Art Fair, Prizm Art Fair, SCOPE Miami and Art Basel Miami.
