About Gavin

Gavin Worth is a self taught artist who was born in Zimbabwe, Africa in 1981 and grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He graduated with a degree in Acting, and after college, worked as an actor and musician for the Santa Fe Shakespeare Festival, the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, and the California Shakespeare Theater. Gavin has had a lifelong passion for drawing, painting, and sculpture since he first saw Michelangelo’s “Head of Leda” in a book in the library.

His work was commissioned by Tiffany & Co to make sculptures for their Valentine’s Day window displays globally. Gavin’s work in sculpture and education also led him to be a finalist for the 2014 TED Fellowship. Ralph Lauren asked him to brainstorm modern, engaging, and minimal sculptural jewelry displays for their stores.

Gavin's selections

Bruno Walpoth

Dolomites, Italy

"

I'm amazed at how the simplicity of these sculptures, the simplicity of the natural materials used, and the simplicity of the stoic expression just lightly covers an enormous psychological depth. The still, calm, powdered white faces have a fascinating mystery. Absolutely stunning.

"

Daniel Ochoa

San Francisco, CA

"

The faces in Daniel's paintings are an amazing mix of technical virtuosity and absolute wildness. Often starkly and mysteriously lit, reminiscent of Rembrandt, Daniel isn't painting portraits, he's painting the interiority he sees there.

"

Mike Giant

Albuquerque, NM

"

I'm always partial to artists from New Mexico because that's where I grew up, but truly, I saw Mike's work when I was a young artist in San Francisco and loved it right away. It's just so evocative and so moving... the simplicity and the stark line and effortless feeling. He's a real master.

"

Kenn Kotara

Asheville, NC

"

Kenn's work is wonderful. I love how his pieces, his screen pieces in particular, play with light, perspective, and a fair amount of chaos. His pieces make you pause and force you to examine them from multiple angles.

"

Josh Cochran

Pasadena, CA

"

Simple, bold, and colorful. I love how Josh is able to create worlds that have a child-like feel to them and then add in a healthy dose of darkness. I think that contrast is just great.
