About Danielle

Danielle Krysa, aka the Jealous Curator, holds a BFA in Visual Arts (painting, printmaking, and art history), and a post-grad in Design. She has worked as a designer and Creative Director for 14 years, but has never stopped loving and creating art. After decades of looking at beautiful contemporary art and thinking “Damn, I wish I thought of that”, Danielle decided to say it out loud, and in 2009 The Jealous Curator was born. She writes daily posts showcasing artwork from around the world, and she’s currently writing two books that will be released by Chronicle Books in 2014. Danielle has also had the opportunity to write magazine articles for Frankie, and Anthology. In addition, she has curated shows in Los Angeles, Washington DC, Vancouver Canada, and Chattanooga, TN. That’s not all, she has also had the pleasure of speaking at Alt Summit for the past three years, and recently gave a guest lecture at the University of Tennessee.

The Jealous Curator has been featured by Sunset Magazine, Frankie Magazine, InsideOut Magazine, Flow Magazine, The Vancouver Sun, Apartment Therapy, and Glamour Paris.

Danielle's selections

Lu Cong

Denver, CO

Stunning. I think it's those eyes - those skillfully painted soft, sad, beautiful eyes that completely pull me in to all of Lu Cong's work. Gorgeous.

Anouk Kruithof

Brooklyn, NY

I would love to stand in front of one of these book sculptures in person. The scale, the texture, the color palette... it's all just so simple, and so breathtaking at the same time.

Samantha French

Brooklyn, NY

I love everything Samantha paints, and being surrounded by her large-scale, underwater portraits is a magical place to be. You almost feel like you're in a pool - a beautifully painted, sunshine-lit pool.

Janet Echelman

Brookline, MA

Whoa. That's all.

Ali Cavanaugh

St. Louis, MO

What I love just a tiny bit more than a beautifully painted portrait... a strange, beautifully painted portrait. Ali's striped socks on her subjects arms take these pieces from lovely, to fantastic!
