About Sage

Sage Vaughn was born in Jackson, Oregon.

His paintings are a response to Vaughn’s questions about the human condition, the challenge of being in the world. The birds and insects he depicts are affirmations of life, and intended to remind us of our own strategies for survival in the modern world.

Although invisible at first glance, the birds are decorated with gang tattoos and codes. Vaughn proposes that the human need for recognition and influence is what links violence in the streets to our collective conscience.

His work has been exhibited in solo shows in California and New York, as well as in group shows in Europe.

Sage appears in the following Top 10 lists

"Sage, Wonderful work, I'm glad I was told. The man who told me about you and your dad is Ed Vaughn. He came from a town called Knob Noster in Missouri along with his brother, Wayne and other relatives be that name. I , too, graduated school there but live out here in Los Angeles. Love to have info on your next showing, maybe we can meet..love to send pics out to Missouri. The Vaughn brother would surely get a kick out of it! Thanks againJoanne Barney/West Hollywoodmylunchmama@yahoo.com"
