About Jeff

Jeff Felker was born in 1980 and raised in a world of latchkeys, comic books, and urban exploration. He received an MA in English Literature from California State University in 2009.

A recurring theme in his work is the isolated human figure. This is an interpretation of emotional isolation, explains Felker, who owes some of his inspiration to literature. He uses oil to juxtapose bright and muted colors, and paints on canvas and board.

He currently teaches English at American River College.

Thanks for the comments. Some of you had mentioned purchasing. These are both sold, but can be purchased as prints in 11x14 and 12x12 sizes for $25 plus shipping. Contact me through email if interested.

Ps. Not giving up the teaching for the art and vice versa. I spent many years getting my English related degrees because I enjoyed it. Painting is great, but I don't have much time or desire for pursuing an art education at the moment. Thanks for the support. I'm glad there are sites like this that give people the opportunity to reach other artists in other locations.

I love this! It's striking and touching at the same time.

this picture is a very valuable

So you are an artistic English teacher?? hah that's kindof cool. i was wondering if those two fields tie into each other in some way, like if one helped inspire the other. you have an MA in English Literature from California State University, but you can oil beautiful pictures. why not become an artist full time? I really am an aspiring artist and i really hope to become as great as you someday, but i am having a hard time figuring out what i want to be when i grow up. i didn't think there were a lot of options for someone who wanted to incorporate art into their career.

j'adore

I think the artist is extremely talented. Although being an artist is hard work, he should make it his profession because not everyone can do a piece of work like that.

this picture leaves a detailed message for me...it is beautiful and i love it!!!!!!!!!!

AWESOME. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE CALLED PAINTING YOUR HEART OUT...OR SHOULD IT BE PAINTING YOUR HEART IN? I FULLY UNDERSTAND LATCHKEYS AND URBAN EXPLORATION AND THE PAIN THAT GOES WITH IT. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING AND KEEP PAINTING BECAUSE YOU ARE VERY TALENTED.

COOL

Though the colors are soothing in both pictures booth unleash a feeling silent of agitation or distress

This is very well done. I certainly respect you for being able to balance the focal point and background so wonderfully. I'm a young artist, and that is one of the things I struggle with. The hair is what really caught my eye, it looks very real and the highlights really bring it out. The piece looks oustanding altogether.

amazing. simply amazing. :D
