Michael Reedy received a BFA Cum Laude from North Central College in Illinois and an MFA from Northern Illinois University. Portraiture is central to his artistic studies and has been for the past twelve years, he says. Reedy identifies a particular interest in depictions of the human body that fall outside the canon of art history, such as cartooning and medical illustration.
By mixing influences both from within and outside of accepted boundaries of fine art, Reedy aspires to locate unique areas of resistance, which he believes is essential to produce new meaning. His work has been exhibited across the United States and recognized with numerous awards.
"Michael's work is downright insane. From the water-tight technical execution of the medical anatomy to the subtle additions of glittered organs and googly eyes, I'm completely obsessed. Recently, Arch Enemy has had the pleasure of exhibiting his works, and I must say, it's quite a distraction to have his beauties hanging so closely to our offices. I'd bet that at least once a day one of us can be found face to face, inches away from his pieces, gushing over a new detail we've found and loved."
