About Jeremiah

Jeremiah Ketner is a Chicago-based Visual Artist. Ketner draws inspiration from Japanese aesthetics, packaging design, magazine ads and urban graffiti. He has exhibited in group shows in Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, Houston, Detroit and all over the Midwest, in addition to a recent solo stint at Milwaukee’s Hotcakes Gallery. He shares a sunny, cozy apartment with his wife, baby boy and two lovely kitties, where they enjoy sipping Kona Coffee among other activities.

Jeremiah’s paintings are an assemblage of muted tones, non-dimensional forms, flower like shapes, and charming little creatures navigating through a sort of candy-land world. The paintings are created with no preliminary drawing; a composition is formed haphazardly and then outlined through the building process of layers. Ketner draws influence from pop-culture, such as Japanese aesthetics, packaging design, magazine ads, and urban graffiti.

"i agree with Camela. it feels like i can almost hum the charming tune to this piece"

"Totally fun art. I love the commercial influence which takes the creative and hand made aspects rather than the product-ish aspects. In other words, I get the commercialism in a creative way rather than a "we want you to buy something" way. Yeah. I have always been interested in good graphiti too. Love that influence. Anime, but in a hello kitty respect rather than a laser taser way. Ketner's work is musical and alive. Totally fun."

"Jeremiah Ketner has a keen eye for color & form. What charming art <3"
