Ika Broukman lives and works in Tel Aviv, Israel.
He explains his work by saying, “My need to create emerges from an internal source of light, destined to erupt and shine, as in the creation of the world. When that need calls on me, I answer. I go into a state of trance, take off my clothes, standing naked and exposed in front of the canvas, and I begin. The trance connects me to the moment of my conception. Through the paint I duplicate my DNA, the pure energy within me, and the creation comes to life. I do not create what I see, what I hear, what I feel or think, nor any “bandaids of life”. At a certain point in time, as I create, I get a message that the painting is perfect, and I stop.”
