John Romang is an artist based in Paduch, KY.
Using ink, resin, and light Romang creates a world that the viewer becomes lost in. Colors dance on top of one another while light pours out and draws patrons closer to see what is inside. The distance between the panels gives the effect that the viewer is looking to a cosmic atmosphere. Colors react vividly with one another and change based upon where the viewer is standing.
Close up, the resin appears to be frozen in time. There is a tension with having these free flowing organic shapes not being able to move. With panels floating on top of one another colors absorb into one another allowing a transformation of color mixing.
Even without light the work is translucent and interesting. The light, if it’s natural or florescent, shows off the true nature of the work. It is Romang’s goal to create a body of work that engages the viewer to curiously explore, and to experience a visual and private interpretation.
