Patrick Dean Hubbell is originally from Navajo, New Mexico, located near the Northeast region of the Arizona, New Mexico border of the Navajo Nation. Patrick attended Arizona State University where he received his Bachelors of Fine Art in Painting and Drawing and also minored in American Indian Studies. He is currently residing and working on the Navajo Nation in Window Rock, AZ.
Patrick describes his work by saying, “My work is an investigation of identity. This is from a series called Catching a Glimpse, which revolves around the idea of past, present and future. The figure within the portrait has occupied this place in time and has lived within different eras of time. The American Indian People have occupied their homelands for centuries and are often forgotten or looked past. This series is reminiscent of the fact that often society sees us and quickly makes a judgment, without understanding the rich abundance of culture, language and tradition that are unique in all nations of Native people.”
