About Kate

Kate Firth is a sculptor living and working in Dallas, TX. Kate’s body of work focuses on pushing the boundaries of steel as an art medium. She utilizes her creativity and fabrication abilities to transform raw industrial steel into vibrant forms. Firth’s sculptures are a product of the continuous experimentation and risks she takes with new shapes and finishing processes. Kate Firth received her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a Concentration in Sculpture from the College of Visual Arts and Design at the University of North Texas in 2010.

Kate explains the work by saying, “My current work is influenced by architecture and street art. There are aspects of architectural design that are purely aesthetic and other areas that have a practical function. I incorporate both notions within my sculptures in order to engineer the form I desire. My design process integrates bold color and harsh line found within street art. By encompassing these two elements, I fabricate a steel sculpture comprised of various color schemes and industrial materials.”
