Marta Zamarska is an emerging Polish artist. In 2008, she graduated from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. Marta is also a qualified English teacher. She graduated from the Teachers Training College in Cieszyn, as well as the American Studies Center, Warsaw University, where she specialized in American culture and literature.
Marta explains this work by saying, “Nature and the diversity of organic forms have inspired me to embark on my new project. The abstract works reflect the intensity and a wide range of colors of minerals, stones and rocks. On the soft surface of canvas I try to capture smoothness, roughness, transparency, the structure and texture of minerals and gemstones. Due to all-over composition the painting becomes the “mineral” itself, that is to say “oil mineral.” The juxtaposition of contrasting colors, as well as monochromatic structures create a shimmering mineral kaleidoscope. Action painting and color field painting of Abstract Expressionism (a movement in American painting, developed in 1940s) are also of great significance when it comes to my inspiration.”
