About Jeff

Jeff Depner is an artist based on Vancouver, BC, Canada. He earned a degree in Illustration and Design from Capilano University in Vancouver.

Jeff explains his work by saying, “Constructed to pit architectonic organization against the organic, my work explores compositional structure through the relationship between colors. The rethinking, alteration and discarding of forms creates a functioning system of parts that generates a language in constant flux. As a whole, these units combine to create a sort of ‘abstract sign’ operating separately from speech and writing patterns, with the intention of seizing the viewer on an unconscious or automatic level.”

Mr. Depner seems to have definitely found the look with which he is most comfortable. Though the work on his website is separated by date, it could have all been created in the same month. His "exploration" appears to be very finite and redundant. His description of intent, as stated in his statement, could apply easily to my collection of neckties.

REALLY COOL! Reminds me very much of famous 80s painter Frank Stella, I wonder if he was an influence for this artist... The bottom one is my favorite with the runs and drips in contrast.
