Tomas Lundgren was born in Uddevalla, Sweden and currently lives and works in Gothenburg, Sweden. He received a BFA from the Malmo Art Academy and an MFA from the Valand School of Fine Arts.
Tomas explains his work by saying, “Through the tradition of portrait painting we stand in front of contemporary artworks that helps us to remember the forgotten and invisible. The contrast of the portrayed persons past seems to be as wide as the two primary color choices, titanium white and ivory black. We see the portraits in the smooth gray mid-line where they can meet in the community that they no longer exist.”
