Sarah Detweiler is a Philadelphia area-based, mixed media painter. She earned a BFA from the University of Delaware in Visual Communications and a Masters in Art Therapy from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY.
Sarah’s experiences as a woman and mother are explored through figurative narratives created with a combination of embroidery with oil, acrylic, gouache, and watercolor. She has shown her work in solo and group exhibits across the country. Her art centers around themes of fertility, motherhood, female empowerment, the human experience, and the rainbow as an archetype.
Sarah’s “Hidden Mother” collection sold out on opening night at Paradigm Gallery, Philadelphia in July/August 2020.
Her work has been published in Create Magazine, Artit Magazine, and Uppercase Magazine, as well as various poetry publications.
