Pilar Mehlis was born in Manhattan, and initially raised in La Paz, Bolivia. When she was twelve, her family moved to Yukon, Canada, where she would receive her first painting lessons at Noah’s Art from Sherry Takala.
Aged 17, Mehlis returned to La Paz to attend the Academy of Art Hernando Siles. Following this, she enrolled at Universidad Mayor de san Andres.
Pilar earned a BFA at University of Victoria and is now a professional painter.
