About Gilbert:
Gilbert Garcin spent most of his life managing a lamp factory in France. At 65, he retired and took up a trick photography workshop. For the past ten years he has been creating comical, surrealistic photographs which warmly highlight sometimes cold, existential questions. Garcin inhabits this strange world and ponders it together with the viewer; with Garcin you have a dedicated, but perplexed, guide.

C’est magnifique! How wonderful to see this amazing mother-lode of inventiveness and creativity. We Elders have untapped and/or unrecognized genius which even we, sometimes, don’t know is lurking until we’re freed from the rigors of this work-a-day world. jbw

Fascinating! I became attached to his subject and couldn’t wait to see his next piece work, frame after frame. It was good that there was translation on some of the work since my French is almost non-existent.

…Clean-looking, nice color scheme (I’m not emo!) Altogether cool. Very simple.

In response to the artist’s bio: My grandfather (Walter Greer) is a phenomenal painter whom has managed to make a name for himself in his own time. He was in the upper management of the textile industry until his mid 40′s. At which time, he decided to leave a lucrative career and go back to school.. art school. He realized his dreams and has been extremely successful. So it goes to show that it’s never to late. I commend this artist for “going for it!”. So, already he’s on my good side:) That being said, I love linear patterns of black and white. The bottom piece really tells a story in it’s simple yet stunning patterns. Thanks

I really love this work. The attention to detail is beautiful! The black and white and the twisted humor make these. I really appreciate the old school photography quality as well. One of my new favorites for sure! Thank you artistaday for bringing this guy up!!

I appreciate this person’s style. Extremely clean looking with a hint of Gorey, with the humor of Gilliam’s Monty Python animations.

Fabulous! Simple and complex all at the same time.
