About Jenny:

Jenny Morgan is a contemporary artist who creates large paintings. She was schooled at the School of Visual Arts in New York and the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in Colorado. Jenny has held several solo shows throughout the Denver area and has participated in numerous other shows across Colorado and New York.

Jenny on her work:

I manipulate the figure to expose the individual’s idiosyncrasies and create a physiological portrait. Working with people from my own life as subject matter allows me to hone in on specifics of their character and present their personalities as I experience them.

Many of her pieces are like a play with each element being a member of the cast. On the stage (the canvas) there is a leading role; that one passage in the painting that is painted to the point of coming to life; and there are supporting roles that are competently and precisely presented but serve to emphasize the point of focus and in so doing draw admiring attention to themselves. In some of them the lead is not the obvious choice. For example, the hand covering the crotch where the protagonist is the pubis under the hand. Or the male and female figures together where the sharpest point is an innocuous spot on the woman’s ribcage. Mesmerizing work.

Wow Clara! we are all enlightened by your comments. Maybe if it WAS Cher you would like it more. Usually I have to look at something very closely to make sure it’s not Cher. And not only do you not like the art but you don’t even like the artist as a person, that’s pretty cold. I do like your avatar icon though.
Uncle Unicorn has got it right.

Jenny Morgan’s stuff is fire. You have to see it in person where it’s not as easy to be a smart ass about the art you’re looking at. It’s massive and the size alone is enough to arrest one a little bit. She is an artist who deserves some serious attention. I dig it. I dig it a lot.

I wonder, are these self portraits showing the inner vision rather then the outer?

Carnal, savage and delicate all at once. This work reminds me of man’s nature and our own mortality.

I thought the first piece was a burn victim, but at a closer look its notâ?¦ Itâ??s just odd. And the second piece looks like Cher, but itâ??s not. I donâ??t like this art, I do like the fact that you have to look at it a closer to see what it is. But I donâ??t like this art or the artist.
