About Mia:

Mia was born and raised in Los Angeles, and grew up watching cartoons and animated films, drawing, reading, and writing. She has long been fascinated by story and character, and the qualities that make people unique. Mia believes that each individual contains an entire universe within them, and strives to depict this in her paintings. Her recent work can best be described as ‘personality portraitsâ? that represent all of the unseen forces at work within the subject ‘ be they spirits, inner demons, conflicting emotions, or the imagination. The result is a surreal amalgam of imagery that adds a new level of meaning and complexity to the main character of the piece. Each painting weaves multiple layers of detail in an attempt to represent the multi-faceted personalities of her characters, their complex identities, and their personal mythologies.

The first one is my favorite. she seems so innocent, so sweet and pure, yet the dark forboding fish seems to represent a deed or thought- guilt perhaps- that follows her around, always there, a constant reminder- which may be the reason she is crying.

both pieces are beatuiful. exquisitly put together.

i would LOVE to have these hanging in my living room.

Mia creates fantasias of the deep which she elucidates as the person’s personality. A nymph-type figure floats in the deep and all around her are tiny figures, and flowers.

It seems pretty flowers at first but then if one looks there is some threatening elements, devils and demons, horrible long-teethed fish.

It is a successful art. Too busy for my taste but satisfying if one spends time with it and looks at the myriad of detail.

Fabulous! Very much almost a portrait of the inner forces at work within the spirit of a person.

I don’t know what there problem is. i feel like your older works were great, but these newer pieces have more energy and flow, they seem to capture more emotion as well. having cartoonish characters doesn’t make good or bad either its all about time and effort, and its quite apparent that there was alot of effort put in these works

I just love your older works, so much more surreal and dark in nature than your current work . Its almost like your whole outlook on life changed since your older work .

I really like this artists concept but it’s always so hard to take such cartoony stuff all that serious.
