Zachary on his work:
Conceptually, my work deals in mystery, sexuality, nostalgia, self-discovery, and the momentary baring of hidden truths. The subjects in my paintings reveal just enough of themselves to arouse curiosity, leaving the viewer to pursue their identity, situation, and purpose. Each of my paintings illuminates a moment in a life that remains open to conjecture.
I continue to find visual inspiration in the suburban nightscape: the eerie lighting, the silent trees and glowing houses, the looming darkness and quietly ominous solitude. The figures who appear in this ambiguous atmosphere embody a separate realm of internal conflict and personal drama, a world within a world.
My technique is influenced by traditional painting, as well as by photography and film, the latter especially in its composition and drama.

Thank you all for your comments and support. I wish you could see the work in person. The brushwork and finish play an important role in my paintings.
If you go to my website, you will find some larger, more detailed images. Oh and yes, they are oil on canvas.

Extraordinary! I love the feel to these, some seem questioning & others resigned. My particular favorites are those with the women looking away, rather than toward the viewer.
There’s something more interesting in wondering where their gaze is focused.
