Matthew Cox studied at Parsons School of Design in New York and Otis/Parsons in Los Angeles.
In an endeavor to depict the modern human condition, he employs a wide array of materials, such as X-rays, embroidery, couture, rubber stamps, prose writing and paint, culminating in anachronistically dark and comic works of art.
His work has been exhibited nationwide and collected by institutions including New Orleans Museum of Art, Progressive Insurance Corporate Art Collection, Georgetown College Art Gallery as well as by private collectors Beth Rudin DeWoody, E. John Bullard, Ronnie Brenner and others. He received the 2008 Pew Charitable Trusts Fellowship in Painting.
